BOSTON — National home-goods and apparel retailer Loomis & Vance confirmed Wednesday that its newly launched "Aero-Gold" loyalty tier currently has a total enrollment of zero members, despite a multi-million dollar promotional campaign and three weeks of active tracking.

The premium tier, designed to sit above the existing Silver and Double-Platinum brackets, was introduced to reward the brand's most dedicated consumers. However, shoppers have found the entry criteria virtually impossible to parse. According to the company’s 48-page terms of service, unlocking Aero-Gold requires a customer to maintain a "rolling net-positive loyalty coefficient" of 1.4. This metric is calculated by dividing a customer’s monthly spend by the square root of their age, adjusted for local relative humidity at the exact moment of transaction processing.

Evelyn DeWitt, Chief Customer Experience Officer for Loomis & Vance, defended the structure during an appearance on a retail marketing podcast.

"Aero-Gold isn't just about spending money; it's about establishing a kinetic alignment with our supply chain," DeWitt said. "We wanted to move away from the vulgarity of simply buying things to achieve status. We want our guests to think about their purchases dimensionally. If anyone could join, the sense of community would be diluted."

Dedicated shoppers have expressed frustration over the system's volatile algorithms. Geraldine Cho, a retired administrator from Quincy, Massachusetts, who has shopped at Loomis & Vance for three decades, spent the last two weeks attempting to navigate the program.

"I purchased six Egyptian cotton bath sheets during what the app called the 'pre-dawn flash window' on a Thursday," Cho said. "But because the store's register processed the transaction at 6:01 AM instead of the designated 5:59 AM cutoff, my qualifying points were converted into 'legacy store credit,' which can only be applied toward the purchase of cast-iron cookware of equivalent weight."

Cho added that her progress bar on the mobile app now occasionally displays a negative balance, accompanied by a prompt asking her to upload a PDF of her high school transcript to verify her demographic cohort.

Retail analysts suggest the unattainable tier represents a rising trend in corporate loyalty strategy. Dr. Aris Thorne, a consumer behaviorist at Beacon Research, noted that empty loyalty tiers carry zero balance-sheet liability.

"It is a highly efficient financial mechanism," Thorne said. "By offering rewards that are structurally impossible to claim, the retailer generates massive consumer engagement and data collection without ever having to surrender any margin on the back end."

For any customer who does manage to cross the Aero-Gold threshold, the promised benefits are substantial. Perks include a dedicated customer-service hotline that connects directly to a live reading of the Wall Street Journal’s afternoon commodities report, and a complimentary artisanal beeswax candle, redeemable only in-person at the flagship Boston location on the third Tuesday of an odd-numbered month.
